Severed Overhead Fibre Cable

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

We've had no internet for over 3 weeks due to a severed overhead fibre cable. Openreach are apparently awaiting traffic management permission to repair the line.

I see there is a BT related closure on this road booked for April. That is an unacceptable (and, according to Ofcom, illegal) amount of downtime, especially during a pandemic when many of us are expected to work from home.

In the meantime, the severed fibre cable has been left just dangling, and the copper telephone cable has been cable tied to a fence, drooping along to pavement level.

  • Having contacted BT, they do not believe that the April closure is related to the repair, but they couldn't explain what else it could be for.

    Please, if the April booking is indeed for this repair, consider bringing it forward so that Openreach can get us up and running again. We feel somewhat abandoned at this point.
