Large pothole around manhole cover

Reported via desktop in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 14:54, Thu 27 January 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3271297.

Reporting again as the previous reports are years old and no action seems to have been taken. The pothole is now huge in depth and width and will definitely cause a cyclist or scooter to come off should they hit it.

  • Hi,

Can you please direct me towards who I should talk to with regards escalating the problem with regards to damage to a car? It's quite comical buy also very annoying, the pot hole reported on the 27th of January caused rear right hand suspension spring to completely shear off, please see images. So my car is unusable and probably seeing significant repair charges, which I will follow up with. Is there anything in place to help recompense for the damage done?

    Thanks,

    Phil

  • I recently hit this in my car. It is a deep pothole which seems to be caused by the double manhole cover falling well below the level of the surrounding road surface. Please treat as urgent, this could kill a motorcyclist.

  • We've referred the issue externally for appropriate action to be taken, as it's not something Bristol City Council is responsible for.

  • Bristol city council, who is responsible for the drain? As it doesn't appear to be a Wessex water asset. It's showing as a 'culverted watercourse.' Privately owned?
