Dangerously slippery manhole cover
Reported via desktop in the Pavement Defect category anonymously at 21:57, Tue 15 February 2022
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3314510.
The double manhole cover near the vent pipe is lethal when moist. I slipped on it this evening wearing flat rubber shoes. When I cammback a couple of hours later to check it was as though it had been oiled. The studs are all in a plain and simply do not provide grip. FOrtunately I only have a pulled elbow and grazes and bruises, but it could be much worse for others.

It has now become much more dangerous. The plate has not been locked shut and a faulty hinge means that one of the plates is raised above pavement level, It looks and sounds as though it is more likely to be Openreach than water, given the proximity to the telephone exchange.
