  • I am contacting you in order to make a very serious formal complaint.

I am a very unhappy Bristol resident who in the last two weeks has had to purchase two new tyres and then additionally pay to have them both fitted due to the horrendous road that is non avoidable part of my commute to work.

Twice in two weeks I’ve gone over the same massive pot hole and it’s not only cost me an insane amount of money but taken up hours and hours of my time getting it all fixed. This couldn’t be avoided as I rely on my car to get to work and back!

This is completely unacceptable!! I didn’t complain immediately as on the first instance I wasn’t one hundred percent that it was that exact pot hole, I have run flats so it was a slow puncture, however after the second one two weeks later I now know 100% it is this very pot hole !!!

The picture attached confirms the size of the pot hole, absolutely huge, completely unsafe, if I had not had run flat tyres this would most certainly resulted in a crash, especially at rush hour on such a busy congested road!

And as a matter of fact this isn’t an isolated issue, there are many giant pot holes to be found all along this route, extremely dangerous!! Far to dangerous a road for me to take pictures of all of them! This was a hard enough task just the one if I’m honest!

Location is on the Portway, just before the fork which separates Hotwells and the ramp up to the Cumberland Basin.

This is absolutely disgusting that this is happening, I pay road tax and council tax and this is what we get dangerous damaging roads it’s abysmal!!!

As you can tell I’m far from happy regarding this situation !!! I’ve attached both receipts which I expect to be refunded in full by City Council immediately. As I mentioned previously, this is a formal complaint and I expect it to be taken very seriously!!!

    Please contact me asap.

  • I was driving home last night behind a moped who had no choice but to go over the horrendous potholes as you begin to go up onto the flyover from the Portway; she wobbled and i kept my distance in case she fell off. At some point, someone is going to be injured because of this. It is a main road into the city from the motorway and its appalling condition is going to cause an accident. I notice several people have reported it but nothing has been done and it's been getting worse and worse- in both directions for months. The last response I had from the Council said it wasn't classed as dangerous; presumably it will take an accident before it is. For goodness sake BCC actually DO something about this- SO shoddy.
