Rats/ vermin/ public health hazard

Reported via mobile in the Obstruction category anonymously at 22:35, Tuesday 29 March 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

At least 10 rats spotted on turbo island, on the ground and then running behind the advertising hoarding. We currently have a pandemic but the neglect of this area and the rising rat population is a serious public health risk. There are numerous bins/ piles of refuse from here to the bottom of Sydenham road left on the streets by traders and residents. This lack of enforcement of by-laws by the council serves no-one but, of course, rats thrive in this neglected environment. I am bemused to see posts for some years highlighting this issue. Simply getting folk to manage their own waste properly and legally would make a big difference. Why is this so difficult? I don't think it is a resource issue. If it can be managed well in Stoke bishop and Clifton but not in stokes croft it suggests a lack of equity in how areas are supported.
