Dazzling high intensity retina burner

Reported via desktop in the Street Light category anonymously at 00:35, Sat 2 April 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

This LED street light lacks a diffuser and the extremely high intensity of the exposed LED elements causes glare, dazzle and visual discomfort. The intensity and glare is so bright that the observer approaching from either direction by foot or by car is temporarily partially blinded. Dark adaption of vision is destroyed and darker details of the scene are obscured by glare and intense sharp-edged dark shadows. This dazzling LED street light adds hazard by preventing the view needed to navigate the way ahead. A previous complaint about this light (reference 3395491) was closed as "fixed" without taking any action. The light emitting elements remain exposed without any diffuser. This light continues to fail to illuminate the way safely and securely due to high intensity dazzle and glare. This is not acceptable and needs to be fixed.
