Cycle path surrounded by wild flowers and pollinating insects mowed down over night

Reported via desktop in the Grass cutting category anonymously at 11:01, Fri 15 July 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

The cycle path that goes from Daveside skatepark past and past White City Allotments has been surrounded by wild flowers all summer, with the flowers recently coming into bloom and attracting an abundance of bees, butterflies and other insects. The biodiversity created by the wild flower verges was incredible, benefitting not only the allotments which need pollination but the health and wellbeing of everyone who would walk or cycle through this route. Over night it has been mowed down to a barren and brown landscape, devoid of life. Mowing should be carried out after the vital summer months once flowers begin to die or turn to grass, reducing the number of insects and birds relying on this for habitat and food. It was such a beautiful place to cycle through in such an urbanised area, now juxtaposed with the building work it's just frustrating and depressing to see.
