Trees on cycle path damaging fences

Reported via mobile in the Growth from base of tree category anonymously at 13:30, Fri 22 July 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 3698480.

Enquiry. Our fence backs onto the cycle path. On the cycle path side there are trees/bushes. The roots and branches are pushing the fence down. It is being propped up in most gardens in our stretch. We want to fix our fence. 1. Is the fence ours? Or the councils? 2. If the councils, how do we get it fixed (trees/bushes trimmed, fence replaced or straightened). 3. If it’s yours and you don’t want to replace it / fix trees, will we get in trouble for ‘pruning’ trees on the cycle path side or replacing the fence? 4. If with the current ‘clearance’ job the plants still push on our fence, can we try to address it?

Basically, is it our job or the councils? And will We get in trouble for doctoring the plants/trees OUTSIDE the fence on the cycle path side? All advice welcome. Thanks.
