Dangerous dip in pavement in tarmac outside Costa etc

Reported via desktop in the Pavements category anonymously at 15:05, Sun 31 July 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

The previous Fix my street reference is 3252252. This has been repeatedly reported for months and months. Several people, especially elderly people have tripped here. I reported it again some months ago whilst scaffolding was up outside the shops as the only means of walking on the pavement was through the trip hazard. I also reported it to the local Cllr Smith. The scaffolding has now gone. The Council has closed the complaint as "not their problem" which it clearly is as it is in the pavement not within the curtilege of the commercial properties. There was something about it being a 3rd party responsibility in the Council reports but this doesn't wash as at the end of the day if one of us ends up damaged the H&S responsibility is still BCC's. It has now had some blue paint drawn around it and been hatched, but no idea when it will be fixed especially since BCC has washed their hands of it as far as Fix my street is concerned. It really does need fixing. You can fix a pavement, but you cannot fix a damaged person as easily.

  • What does the latest update mean? What other team? How many teams does BCC have that fix paving? A temporary tarmac fix was put in some months back but not a proper repair. Meanwhile the adjacent BT manhole has had a BT "fence" around it for months rather than having it repaired. Can you please get BT to fix this as it is in the BCC owned section of the pavement. Thank you.
