Sign tampered with

Reported via desktop in the Damaged category anonymously at 10:02, Wednesday 31 August 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

Clay Pit Road sign on Downs opposite Belvedere Road. This is just about at its maximum height position on one side where people ( probably trophy thieves or general idiots) have attempted to remove it. This has been tampered with many times over the last 3 or 4 years and unless holding brackets are repositioned or secured properly will go missing very shortly. That will be costly, take a long time to replace and be most inconvenient to motorists and the like looking for signing.

  • After nearly 4 months from advising the authorities I notice nothing has been done to rectify street signs . I am forwarding a photo of the 'Clay Pit Road sign' as it now is and how it has been subjected to attempted further removal by certain undesirables as described previously. No attempt has been made to correct the situation ( 10 minutes is all it would take) . If the sign is removed and taken, and they will achieve this I am sure very soon, it will result in 'NO SIGN FOR THIS ROAD' , probably take years to reinstate and cost thousands of pounds . This is based on how I know the council operate and waste money with little or no regard for local residents or tax payers. Therefore , because I would like to see this sign reinstated before it is stolen I will correct it myself ( 10 minute job) if nothing has been done within 10 days. I will not contact you again because it would be a complete waste of time. 4 months for your authority to sort this problem and save money is a joke and is totally unacceptable. From a most disappointed and frustrated citizen of the local community
