Rocking Manhole Cover on outbound carriageway

Reported via desktop in the Utlility covers category by Michael GRIGG at 13:26, Monday 12 September 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

A very noisy manhole cover in the outbound carriageway of A4 Hotwell Road is causing incessant noise nuisance. Traffic travelling along Cabot Way cannot avoid the offending manhole. This has been an issue for about 1 week. This combined with a defective manhole cover on the inbound carriageway off the end of Freeland Place [which appears to have been identified for repair - as yet not actioned] means that we have continuous noise disturbance every few seconds, night and day

  • I have reported this issue 2 weeks ago and several times since. I see many other people are having to endure sleepless nights because of the constant clanking of the loose manhole covers. To make matters worse our highway authority appear to be ignoring the issue. It’s really not difficult to fix. Bristol City Council you should be better than this.

  • Still no updates and another disturbed night ahead as the problem persists.

Every few seconds loud clanking sounds both day and night audible anywhere in our house.

  • The noise of this rocking manhole cover keeps us awake at night. This has been going on for weeks now, despite this issue being logged on the 12 September. This must be affecting many households in the area. Please treat this as a priority.
