Constant water (slimy and slippery) on pavement

Reported via desktop in the Pavements category anonymously at 20:03, Wednesday 14 September 2022

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

This problem has been ongoing for over 18 months. You can see from 2 previous reports (latest 3674388) that have been closed and the matter has not been resolved. The original problem was a pot hole for which BCC arranged Bristol water to come and have a look as looked like a water leak. They have put a temporary surface over the top and have been back advising its a Wessex Water problem. Wessex Water have done tests and confirm its not sewage and to go back to Bristol Water who say cant find a leak so it needs to get worse before they can look into it further. In the meantime the temporary surface remains with a slimy slippery surface. One local resident has already fallen a few months ago injuring herself and its only a matter of time before this happens again and someone will try and sue the council. Can you please look into and urgently get this matter resolved.

  • As you can see from pics on a bright sunny day there is still water leaking from 3 areas. How bad does it have to get before this gets sorted?

  • This is the response from Bristol Water "The area manager has looked into this and he’s confirmed the water is not treated water so this isn’t a leak from any of our pipes, and the area was surveyed with our night leakage team & nothing was uncovered from the location or further afield.

Our leakage team surveyed the area again, as well as putting acoustic logging equipment out with no result confirming a leak on the pipework.

Unfortunately it currently stands we have no confirmed reason for Bristol Water to be digging here again. It may be worth reporting this to the council if you haven’t already done so."

So unsure where we go from here. As you can see from latest pic taken on 4th Nov, dry day and there are 3 areas where water is coming up to the surface and trickling down the road. This will be a hazard when the icy cold weather starts.

  • Also have a video but this wont upload and shows the water is at a constant trickle coming up from below surface
