Ash dieback

Reported via mobile in the Tree in poor health category anonymously at 12:08, Mon 16 January 2023

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4135323.

Ash dieback is affecting a tree on Croft View at the back of our property (78 Hill View). A tree surgeon friend has confirmed this for us in recent months but the tree has been in poor health for a few years and we’ve brought this to the council’s attention in the past. High winds have brought large branches down previously and many of these branches fall in our garden and these are a potential health and safety hazard as we have young children and currently can’t allow them to play in that part of the garden.

  • Requesting an update please on this enquiry. I’ve added recent photos of the tree now that it is bloom as I understand this is when someone was due to look at the state of the tree. It is clear from the photos that the tree is not healthy. Can you confirm if someone has been out and what the outcome is? As recommended by an employee when I last called a few months ago, we intend to cut down the branches overhanging our property and we are awaiting confirmation from a tree surgeon as to when they can attend.

  • Please update on when this tree will be dealt with. Tree felling notice was placed almost a year ago and no progress made. High winds lately have brought down lots of broken branches into our garden and it isn’t safe for our children to play near it.

  • Requesting yet again another update on the ash tree as my last request has still not had a response and that was almost a month ago. Next month it will be a year since the felling notice went up! We have since had a lot of debris and dead branches fall in our garden and just a few days ago a near miss with our toddler. What is it going to take for someone to take this seriously? I’ve been more than patient until now but this needs to be addressed before serious injury occurs especially now that my children spend more time outside.
