Phasing of pedestrian crossing lights

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 11:15, Thursday 2 February 2023

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4195953.

The crossing is far too much in favour of traffic travelling along Muller Road, which means the wait time to cross after pressing the button (at the pedestrian crossing) is a ludicrous amount of time over a minute. It allows vehicles through which aren't even in sight. Traffic throughout the day is stop start, so there are drivers barely moving any distance when pedestrians could be safely crossing instead.

In addition : This is an important commuter route for cyclists on the Concorde Way so there should be no such bias for traffic travelling along the Muller Road. This ludicrous wait time will lead to an accident unless it is put back to how it was until about a month ago, where the wait time was sensible and just a few seconds at most.

The wait time is creating unnecessary danger to cyclists and pedestrians.

  • No. It’s still ridiculous phased with pedestrians waiting to cross the road with slow or stop/start moving traffic.

Pedestrians are being held up unnecessarily

  • The delay for pedestrians is still ridiculously too long. Waiting for drivers to get to the next set of lights when the lights could change to allow pedestrians across

This is purposefully annoying for pedestrians.

  • Nope. The lights are STILL heavily in favour of motorists. Including those who are travelling slower than pedestrians on their way to the next set of lights.

Utterly ridiculous to change the light sequencing and benefits absolutely no-one

  • Still waiting far too long for the lights to change. During the day at all times the wait is completely unnecessary as motorists make no saving.

Sort out the lights do that pedestrians don’t have to wait a ridiculously long time
