Cars parking on both sides of the road (single white line side are the problem)

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction category anonymously at 15:32, Wednesday 8 February 2023

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4215125.

This street is extremely narrow and cars park on the other side of the most narrow parts, this causes many problems, I've often parked on the correct side of the street opposite of this and have lost 2 wing mirrors as a result of this. One time I even had to reverse back up the road as the car parked on the single white line side was parked so badly it blocked the way. Its dangerous and emergency vehicles such as wide fire engines certainly wouldn't be able to squeeze through.

Updates

  • A new enquiry has been raised for this issue.

Posted by Bristol City Council at 15:32, Wednesday 8 February 2023

  • Had this the other evening where a lorry almost had to turn around to get through. Because of cars parked on the right-hand side on the single white line

Taken from the AA parking restrictions site: Where the road has a solid, unbroken white line running along the side, parking is considered legal.

In some cases, the single white line is there to indicate that there’s no pavement – if this is the case then it’s illegal to park there.
