Frequent illegal parking at 49 Westbury Hill

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction category anonymously at 11:41, Thursday 16 March 2023

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4320203.

This image shows a typical scenario, involving repeat offenders. The orange Honda has no connection to 49 Westbury Hill, but is frequently parked outside. The diver is disabled and has a badge, but parks there and then walks into Westbury Village, past the free car park and its disabled spaces. As far as I can tell, the blue Honda, which is also frequently parked there, belongs to the occupants of 49 Westbury Hill and has a disabled badge in the window. The occupants are employed by the NHS and neither appear to be disabled. Regarding these two cars, this has been going on for years and in the circumstances, what they are doing is wrong. Regarding the white van, this is the consequence of the aforementioned's selfish behaviour, encouraging others to do the same. This road is already dangerous and becoming more so, their wilful narrowing of it, regardless of status (or not) is unnecessary and making things worse.

  • Unless you've misunderstood, the issue is not whether or not a person is disabled, the issue is the persistent and unnecessary parking on double yellow lines outside of 49 Westbury Hill. Both the yellow and blue Honda's have been doing this for years, narrowing an already dangerous road, when there is no need to do so. And as we can see, it encourages others without an "excuse" to break the law. You obviously don't live in and/or care about this area. It's already a big problem and when the council monetise the currently free carpark at the Care Centre, Westbury Village will be overwhelmed with illegal parking.
