Reported via desktop in the Pavements category anonymously at 12:56, Fri 28 April 2023

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4496504.

Resident has fallen into the road due to mud and water collecting where the pavement slope for the crossing, the crossing dips in a way that doesn't allow water and mud to clear, this is right opposite Amelia Lodge and lots of elderly need to use this crossing, Its the side where lake road is opposite Amelia Lodge on Eastfield road

  • There is a drain at the low point which simply doesn't drain. When it rains, because it doesn't drain away, the water floods the pavement and the road so that it is completely impassable. This is also a road crossing point as previously mentioned though the previous reporter didn't mention the drain because it is hard to see. Any remedial works will need to deal with the drain too.

  • I checked this drain in person today and the pot is almost full of soil so is totally blocked hence it won't drain. Needs gully pot emptying I believe.

  • Today this area is full of water. The drain must be completely blocked and the water puddle goes across the pavement. This is also the dropped kerb area for crossing this road using a refuge in the centre of the road but the deep puddle makes it impassable. Surely by now your drain clearing machine could have come and emptied the gully pot since it was first reported in April I believe. I don't have a photo as I was driving past it.

  • This situation has become much worse. When it rains it not only floods the pavement but the front path of the house that fronts onto the pavement is completely flooded at the moment, right to their front door. I cannot believe they have not complained to the Council about this. Here we are 6 months after someone first reported it and the drain is STILL blocked. The pavement is STILL impassable when it rains, and the dropped kerb and island refuge cannot be used because of the water. On 3 August this report was updated to see the contractor has been given the job. They clearly have done nothing about this as it is worse now than ever and is actually URGENT and I hate to think what your bill will be if the water enters the house whose path has been flooded several times in the last week or two and will do so again until you get it sorted, permanently. It may be that it needs more than just a clean out but given you stated in MAY that it was under investigation and then gave in to a contractor in AUGUST - surely you must have some idea from your own investigation what sort of works are needed. Please get the contractor to deal with this urgently so that we can use the road and the pavement, and have some compassion for the poor home owner who cannot leave home today without wading through dirty water.
