Inneficient and dangerous junction

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights category anonymously at 10:06, Thursday 18 May 2023

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4568875.

This junction is frequently clogged. Drivers will stop on the pedestrian crossing while waiting for cars in front to continue causing pedestrians to have to cross behind them and around traffic. Drivers turning right onto Chalks Road often have to wait for the next cycle as there is no allowance in the sequencing. A simple fix for the main crossing would be to add a few seconds of extra time for eastbound traffic on Whitehall Road to allow the right-turning queue to clear. A yellow box on the junction would also stop drivers from blocking the junction for other drivers.

Drivers turning west from Chalks Road also have a habit of stopping on the pedestrian crossing making it difficult for pedestrians to cross. Again, a yellow box may help as drivers have more respect for these.
