Parking on driveway and yellow line

Reported via mobile in the Road signage category anonymously at 14:34, Fri 3 November 2023

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5171185.

The all area around Oasis academy marksbury Road, in particular around the Oakhill Drive developpment (BS3 5EU), the street situation at school drop off and pick up is unacceptable and has become worse and worse, and extremelydangerous. . There are yellow lines and driveways blocked every morning, people in the area can not go out/in their own driveway. people also leave the car unattended on driveways. But even worse is extremely dangerous for the kids. Lots of kids of the school and from the development encounter danger every time they walk to school, and there is not even space to walk on the pavement because of the cars on pavement and yellow lines. Law should be enforce to make people respect driveway and yellow lines, or streets should be close for resident only at pick up and drop off (as it happen in schools close by). Something needs to be done URGENTLY, because with the winter coming, cars will increase and outside will be darker, so even more difficult to see kids... Something needs to be done before a kid get killed. If you don't act promptly, responsibility of accidents will be on you. In addition, schools accept kids based on distances, so everyone in the school can walk to the school. Please act in respect of hundreds of kids ans residents, and enforce the law adequately. Thank you. I have also footage/cctv/pictures

Updates

  • A new enquiry has been raised for this issue.

Posted by Bristol City Council at 14:34, Fri 3 November 2023

  • I absolutely support that issue. Walking children to school around the Oakhill Drive and Marksbury Road is now dangerous.

A lot of cars driving around, parking, without consideration of others such as young or elderly people.

I'm sure this issue also impacts the medical centre team and patients.

There is a need of proper infrastructure around the school, medical centre Nd residential area of Oakhill drive.

Requesting: 1) Oakhil drive road close for non residents between 8-9 am (similarly like next to the Victoria park school) 2) crossing with the traffic lights outside the medical centre direction to the Victoria Park school

  • Not much as changed, still too many cars on school drop off and pick up, and parked everywhere without care about yellow lines and driveway
