Plowed field

Reported via desktop in the Roads category anonymously at 13:57, Mon 29 January 2024

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5505796.

After weeks of road works on Greystoke Avenue, its now awaiting frosts to ensure we get a problem twice the capacity and safety / danger issues than before. For almost every line dug up, two are now there, which are already being broken up by traffic, leaving us two lines as pothole trenches where there was once only one trench/pothole. I have many more photos, and these are only ones from a 150m strip.

The workmen were courteous, polite, good humoured and seemed to work hard, yes, but its like driving over a plowed field now, and our tax money has been spent (mispent) on the cheap, therfore we shall be paying TWICE later this year when the quality of the work / materials or poor budget given is revealed for what it is.

10s of thousands of vehicles, HGV's tractors, double deckers, coaches etc use this road every day.

I had to help a gent who had tripped and had plenty of blood from his face, head and nose, (no ambulance available either) those of us around him all were first aiders, and then 3 off duty paramedics stopped seperately to take over, while I got my daughter to collect blankets and towels for his comfort and bloo, while he lay on the frozen pavement.

Cyclists use this road extensively, and the bumps and obstacles left after the work are equally unsafe as the potholes before them.

Children walk down this road morning and evening walking to various schools in the area.

The next time there is an incident this will be brought up, that I have informed the council and nothing has been done, except to show the ongoing usual contempt for Southmead residents, as most money will be spent on the "better suburbs" of Bristol.

I have never complained in my life, but this is beyond a joke and the neglect of quality assurance and misuse of funds, as no doubt, several "suits" have had a good pay day is insufferable.
