Overgrown hedging blocking pavement

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction category anonymously at 15:49, Monday 13 May 2024

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5967808.

There are numerous properties that have allowed their hedging to block clear passage on the pavement. Worst case would encroach the pavement by 80%. Just passable on foot, but impassable for prams, wheelchairs and motability scooters. Primarily, privet hedging which should be easily maintained. We still have 3-4 months of growing season. Then it will block the pavement completely. However, large stinging nettles and, even worse, there are large bramble shoots which are swaying across the pavement. These are a hazard and could cause serious injury. Particularly, at night time, when they aren’t as visible. I know this isn’t a problem only restricted to Barrow Hill Road, but it’s on my walking route, so I feel I have the right to bring it to your attention. Add to this the pavement car parking and pedestrians will soon need to use the roadway as their route.
