Severely degraded surface dressing and surface course on Gloucester Rd/ Filton Rd (A38) just north of Bartholomew Square junction.

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6203746.
The surface dressing, and in places the underlying surface course, is severely degraded to the point that it is inadequate and presents a serious hazard to road users and pedestrians. This has been a progressively worsening problem for many months. It is particularly bad on the northbound lane and occurs along a section of road with multiple additional risk factors: there are several junctions, the start of a cycle lane, a light-controlled pedestrian crossing, a narrow footpath and two bus stops. Of particular concern is the effect that a poor road surface condition can have on vehicle control and stopping distances, especially when approaching a pedestrian crossing, road junction and bus stop. For cyclists travelling north, the deterioration is so extensive that it is impossible to avoid and the road surface so uneven and rutted that it severely compromises a rider's ability to control their bike.
I am aware that this issue has been reported multiple times and that "minor roadworks" are planned towards the end of July 2024, but the details provided are a bit unclear as to whether or not this particular issue is going to be rectified. Sorry if this particular report is unnecessary but the issue is sufficiently important to justify logging it just in case.
