Dangerous road surface

Reported via mobile in the Roads category anonymously at 12:28, Sun 21 July 2024

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6255877.

Birchall Road has recently been resurfaced by Kier and is a very poor job with uncovered tar and excess loose aggregate. It is unsafe for cyclists, several of whom have skidded on the surface. Additionally, it is noisy for residents and many feel that the works were unnecessary; the road surface was fine before and there are many more problematic streets in the city which are unsafe for cyclists due to large potholes etc. There has been money reserved for a pedestrian crossing on Cranbrook Road, after my daughter was hit by a car 7 years ago - why hasn’t this been actioned instead?

  • Vehicles are skidding on this street on a daily basis and today I almost came off my bike due to loss of control over the piles of excess aggregate. I have also had chippings fly up in my face whilst cycling. This road has become extremely dangerous since being resurfaced and needs immediate rectification works.
