Uncontrolled weed growth in gutters - including Buddleia

Reported via desktop in the General highways enquiry category anonymously at 11:07, Monday 2 September 2024

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6425543.

Uncontrolled weed growth in the road gutters is now at car roof height in places (first picture).

Inevitably, Buddleia is now making an appearance (second picture) – left unmanaged the roots and stems will undermine and dislodge the kerb and gutter stones.

Whatever short-term benefit Bristol City Council believe is to be gained from ignoring the issue (no, the problem won’t go away in the colder months) will be eclipsed by the medium to long-term risks and costs associated with managing and repairing loose and unsafe stonework.
