An ash tree on the corner of Elberton Road and Westbury Lane has rotted through the centre and is at risk of falling. We live at 157 Westbury Lane and the tree is situated on the edge of our property in the garden of Elberton Lodge 41 Elberton Road. The tree has been inspected by three independent tree specialists who have all condemed the the tree and have said it could fall at any time. They have all provided quotes for felling the tree and supplied them to the householder. The householder has taken no action at this point. The risk of the tree falling is causing us a great deal of anxiety as part of the tree previously fell on our house in 2008. At that point the tree was pollarded. Since then it has regrown and is now in a very unsafe condition with fungus growth throught the centre of the tree. This is a very large ash tree and if it were to fall would be a considerable risk to life. The opion of the tree specialists is that the most likely direction of fall would be onto the road (Westbury Lane). We need the council to act to have the tree felled before it falls.
