Sign stupidly bright

Reported via mobile in the Illuminated sign category anonymously at 08:02, Wednesday 2 October 2024

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6540800.

Guys this billboard is INSANELY BRIGHT! Like, dangerously so. It makes other things on the road seem pitch black in relation because you have to squint as you approach.

The stupidest part is it’s so bright, you can’t actually make out the image very well. And the amount of energy it must use. Ffs.

Why did the council give permission for this? There’s 2 on this roundabout alone now, and another dangerously bright one on the M32 flyover ready to blind drivers entering the city.

Why don’t they have ambient light sensors and the bulbs dim accordingly? Absolutely ridiculous.

PLEASE PLEASE get the companies that own these monstrosities to turn them down, or better yet, off.

  • I've reported this before having been blinded by it when driving round the roundabout in my car. I'm a little confused why it's there, as drivers should be concentrating on the road and no reading distracting signs, and most who are not on their mobiles are. Would be good if the council could reconsider the planning for this as it's a continual issue.
