Failure to follow public safety standards for pavement.
Reported via desktop in the Pavements category by MR Roy Roberts at 15:47, Tuesday 8 October 2024
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6567010.
Summary:Around 1992/93 after consulting the residents of BS78NY,England Highways made improvement:Installed a drop kerb in-front of properties 259>277 BS78NY. .A new road surface was also laid specifically addressing the surface road noise from motor-vehicles. Since then BCC have used emulsion spray and chippings on the road surface, thus undermining the noise reducing tarmac There is also the fact that BCC have increased the height of the road surface of between 220mm and 310mm above the height of the pavement. The next act by BCC can only be described as feckless; In 2023 BCC instructed ETM to install a drop kerb/hauling-way in-front of 275/277 and 265 BS78NY (ETM contractors lowered an existing dropped kerb).ETM returned at least twice, attending to substandard works. Since this fiasco there has been flooding of the pavement, vehicles driving upon the pavement (thanks to the absence of a minimally defined road/pavement boundary, flooding of the telecommunications services under the pavement ,water coming out of the manhole cover/lifting the cast iron cover, during heavy rain, pedestrians being driven at whilst walking on the pavement, splashed by vehicles as the gutter is non existent
BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL Kindly return the section of road and public footpath to the specifications initiated by .England Highways Authority or better still, request the intervention of the England Highways Authority to carry out the road improvements to the same spec and standard of 1992/93
