Appaling re-surfacing of pavement

Reported via desktop in the Pavements category anonymously at 12:48, Saturday 12 October 2024

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 6606669.

Unless your contract with whoever did this work said that they were supposed to put down an uneven layer of tarmac over the whole area, including all 4 manhole covers (great idea why would anyone ever want to get access?), splattering adjacent walls and leave lumps big enough to be tripping hazards at the boundary of their work, and not bothering with the bit at the back of the bin by the bus stop, I think you have been, in the contemporary idiom "mugged-off" by the contractors, whoever they were. I believe the work was done either this morning or possibly last night. Were residents supposed to be warned about this? I wasn't. I have never seen such a poor job!

Updates

  • A new enquiry has been raised for this issue.

Posted by Bristol City Council at 12:48, Saturday 12 October 2024

  • The tarmac has now been partially removed from most of the the features in the pavement. However, one of the two water stop-cocks outside 1 Chessel Heights is still completely tarmaced over and many of the others look as though they will probably be very hard to open, as significant amounts of tarmac are still overlapping the edges.
