Road changes but no paint

Reported via iOS in the Roads category by barnaBUS driver at 01:33, Thursday 13 March 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7270315.

Since closing access to Beaufort Road, traffic builds up on Blackswarth Road trying to get to St George. A lot of changes are happening but idiot car drivers don’t leave gaps for big vehicles like buses. There should be no entry cross hatching box on Blackswarth Road, at the top of Pile Marsh, extending to the right to allow buses to continue with their route when the road is free, as there is no cross hatching, buses can often not move for 5 + minutes - and all because cars block the exit of pile marsh, or leave a car space not fit for a bus.

Updates

  • A new enquiry has been raised for this issue.

Posted by Bristol City Council at 01:33, Thursday 13 March 2025

  • For clarity, access has not been closed to Beaufort Road - this is a modal filter as part of the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood trial. Beaufort Road remains open to all traffic, but cannot be accessed from Blackswarth Road by motor vehicle.

Your 'yellow box' suggestion could be considered as part of the review of the trial scheme, and could potentially be considered IF a decision is made for the trial to be made permanent.

You can either lodge your suggestion now via https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/ s/ 1OGP0K/ or wait for the formal review of the trial period.

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 10:34, Thursday 10 April 2025

  • Access has been closed to Beaufort Road as OP suggests, there is no other access from this direction to Beaufort Road and the surroundings. A yellow box is a great suggestion, and one that fix my street should welcome as it’s only required due to the amount of traffic now queuing in the area. Could there perhaps be changes to the traffic lights to help ease the flow of traffic? Although most of east Bristol is a stand still now

Your 'yellow box' suggestion could be considered as part of the review of the trial scheme, and could potentially be considered IF a decision is made for the trial to be made permanent. To add a "yellow box" to a junction there would need to be a formal Traffic Regulation Order consultation; which is an expensive and time-consuming process. Potentially, however, it could be included with any TROs changes that are needed after the initial trial period of the East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood.

You can either lodge your suggestion now via https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/ s/ 1OGP0K/ or wait for the formal review of the trial period.

Changes are due to be made the traffic lights at Chalks Road / Church Road / Blackswarth Road soon.

This report has been closed as no action is required by the council at this stage.
