Builders blocking off road to car parking

Reported via desktop in the Obstruction blocking access category anonymously at 21:04, Friday 28 March 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7354884.

Builders at the neighbouring site have erected fencing to prevent parking on Baynton Road. The road is not officially closed, and there is no clear reason for them obstructing parking. This is also making it very difficult for the council to access the communal bin store for my building, and empty the recycling and waste.

  • Around 2 weeks after these barriers first went up and they are still there. The builders aren't using the space (possibly other than for staff to park their own cars in?), there was no warning of the closure, it doesn't seem to be closed with authority/permission from the council, and there's no signage to say when the barriers will come down. Very difficult to get in and out, especially with a bike. Please request the builders to remove the barriers.

  • Builders are using the road they've blocked off to store building material for the site. Do they have the council's permission to do this?
