Heavily Blocked Drain lots of Mud? I can't dig it out

Reported via mobile in the Flooding/Gully/Drainage category anonymously at 01:23, Thu 3 April 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7380041.

This road storm drain is continuing to be blocked with heavy silt. I've dug it out down to 2 foot recently but it's blocked again after the last rain. It's a danger to block of flats on corner of 52 Brighton Road and the public footpath that is next to it, This block of flats and drain is at the bottom of the road like a slight decline.

May I suggest please clear it out but perhaps look further down the drains as this should be a brown or rain water drain?

Allot of the silt and stuff that blocks it up comes from heavy street water usage further up the road near Chandos.

It's a recurring problem that is backing up again and will cause major problems again soon.

Many thanks

  • Hello many thanks for your attention to this, The drain sits right in the corner of a public parking bay as you may see in the original photo.

Can we arrange cones or sign's or can you provide them to me in advance of the clean, I can keep an eye on this bay and when it's free block it off but only with your cones and authority,

    Let me know thanks
