Litter and unemptied bin overflowing

Reported via desktop in the Litter category by Mark Brown at 10:11, Wednesday 23 April 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7468972.

Here below is the message I sent on Feb 26th. The response from Feb 27th says it is not the responsibility of Bristol Waste. I do not understand this. If it isn't BW's responsibility, then whose is it? There is also now an overflowing bin which is contributing to the problem. Fro Feb 26: I reported this on Feb 21st: 'The litter on the underpass verges is gradually accumulating. I am worried the verges will be mowed in the spring before being litterpicked, potentially resulting in a lot of unretrievable pieces of plastic. Does anyone know if Bristol Waste liaises with the council re. refuse collection and mowing? Also, there should definitely be more bins in that area.' This has already been marked as fixed, but the verges haven't been litterpicked. To clarify, I'm referring to the grass verges alongside the paths within the Lawrence Hill Roundabout. Thanks!

  • Bin now emptied, but verges still littered, with grass growing fast. The danger is that the litter will be shredded when the verges are mowed, (though I am in favour of less mowing!)

  • Verges are still littered, with grass growing fast. The danger is that the litter will be shredded when the verges are mowed, (though I am in favour of less mowing!) I'm not sure if this is BCC or Bristol Waste's responsibility. Please advise.

  • Bin overflowing again; also, grass on verges growing with litter still not cleared. Please don't mow until litter cleared. (Is this BCC or BWC responsibility?)
