Grass cutting in park

Reported via mobile in the Grass cutting category by Steven Trythall at 13:35, Tuesday 29 April 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7498818.

Grass has yet to be mown for the first time this summer season. Long grass makes it difficult to spot dog fouling. Whilst I appreciate the Council’s aim to reduce grass cutting by 30% to increase biodiversity, there needs to be a sensible approach. Residents still need useable amenity space to exercise, relax and walk dogs. Rather than deciding which parks to prioritise for cutting and those to cut less frequently, may I suggest drawing up plans for each open space identifying which areas are to be mown regularly for amenity space and which areas can be left to flourish into wildflower and scrub for biodiversity gain. Plans can then be used by the parks maintenance team. Happy to assist where you are short on resources. Steven.
