7602295 confusion about "case closed"
Reported via desktop in the Flytipping category anonymously at 12:27, Tue 27 May 2025
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7622455.
Follow-up to report ref 7602295 (21 May). I do not understand why this case has been referred to the parks team, marked “no further action” and “closed”. I have had to report several cases of flytipping on this area of council-owned land, and it used to be quickly removed. But the last time I reported a problem I was told that that the Parks Department will not arrange to remove tipped waste because the area was considered the responsibility of the Housing Department, not Parks. I tried to phone the Parks Team but after eventually getting through to the right number and choosing an option, I was told that they are not taking calls, only offering to call back by the end of the next working day. That is not a good option for me, and I could find no email address online to contact the Parks Team directly, so I am re-reporting this case online and hoping for an explanation of two things: 1. why “no further action” when flytipping on this area of publicly accessible council-owned land is a recurrent problem, and not removing it only encourages flytippers to dump other things there. 2. which department takes responsibility for problems on this area, parks or housing? Thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to report fly- tipping to Bristol City Council. We will aim to remove the fly- tip within 3 days, but this depends on its size, scale, location, or whether the fly tip is hazardous.
Reducing levels of fly tipping is important so please share any evidence of who is doing it with the council.
If you witnessed who fly-tipped the waste or have evidence (CCTV/photo) please call us on 01179222100, or submit this at https://digital.bristol.gov.uk/ streets-travel/ tell-us-about-a-fly-tipping-incident-you-saw #YourCity.YourCall

Please could you advise whether any further investigation has taken place, or is planned. since the latest update on this situation two months ago, when the status was changed to "in progress" The pile of dumped turf and rocks which Bristol Waste said it did not have approporiate equipment to remove in May is still there, and the brambles are regaining a hold after my failed attempt to turn this patch of land into a small communal garden. This area is a repeated problem, for which I really hope the Housing Department will devise a permanent solution to prevent further flytipping and provide a clear access to the back gates of three bungalows on South Dene and four houses on Coombe Lane.
