No easy access to shared bicycle/pedestrian footpath

Reported via desktop in the General highways enquiry category anonymously at 20:31, Wednesday 11 June 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7696173.

This is a very busy road that requires facilities for bike to travel safely. The pavement has been designated as a shared access pavement but there is not an easy way (i.e. dropped kerb) to access this facility. This has been raised before and dropped without any explanation as to why it is not considered necessary. It would have two benefits avoiding traffic having to build up behind cyclists cycling north on Westbury Road (to please drivers ) and more importantly reduce the risk of cyclists being hit by cars on the road. The cost of putting a drop kerb here would be peanuts in the grand scheme of things and allow the poor cycle facilities to limp on for a bit longer.
