Original Victorian streetlight removed replaced with ugly one, would like return of original light post

Reported via mobile in the Street light category anonymously at 15:05, Fri 11 July 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7863193.

The original beautiful Victorian streetlight was removed a number of years ago and replaced with an ugly modern design which also shines too brightly into the bedroom. We would really like the original returned. Also we would like to know exactly what happened to it? We look forward to hearing from you. Many thanks

  • This column was replaced over 20 years ago. Bristol City Council sadly hold no records that date this far back. We can only assume that the column was what is referred to as a Bromford column, which were columns that were installed to emulate Victoria style columns but were in fact made from non-galvanised steel rather than cast iron and therefore were replaced due to being unsafe.
