Abandoned vehicle in violation of local parking bylaw (WhatThree Words location:///boom.shovels.sulk)

Reported via desktop in the A vehicle left on public road for over two months category anonymously at 16:37, Monday 4 August 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 7978145.

Location: The vehicle is located at the northern end of Saville Road. What3Words: ///boom.shovels.sulk

Details: This vehicle has remained in the same location for over six months and appears to have been abandoned by its owner, effectively leaving the responsibility of disposal to the community and authorities.

It is in clear violation of local parking bylaws that restrict parking to a limited number of hours. Beyond this legal breach, the vehicle is obstructing the proper use of the highway by occupying valuable parking space that could otherwise serve residents and visitors.

The vehicle’s deteriorated state is also undermining the natural beauty of the Downs. Its continued presence creates an impression of neglect, making the area less welcoming to those who wish to enjoy it.

Abandoned vehicles such as this are known to attract vandalism, theft, and can even become a hiding place for illicit activities—posing both safety and security risks.

This vehicle has become a significant nuisance for other users of the Downs, is unsightly, and should not be tolerated any longer. We respectfully request its prompt removal and disposal at a recycling centre.

  • It's taken you so long to get to this issue I suspect the van has moved to another location on the Downs Cottage. However, still worth pursuing and asking your agent to drive around the Downs Cottage to check it's not now been parked elsewhere.
