Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing once again — now over a year since I first raised serious concerns — to formally express my deep frustration and growing anger at the ongoing neglect of the playground on Bellevue Road, Easton.
Despite my previous complaint and detailed documentation of the risks, absolutely no action has been taken to address the dangerous and deteriorating condition of the play equipment. This failure to act is unacceptable, and frankly, it reflects a troubling disregard for the safety and wellbeing of children in this community.
The hazards I described in my last communication remain unchanged — and in some cases, have worsened. The climbing frame’s metal structure is now even more corroded, with rust eating away at the supports and leaving jagged, sharp edges fully exposed. The wooden sections remain rotted and splintered. The roundabout is still broken and unusable. Nothing has been repaired. Nothing has been made safe.
This is not a minor oversight — it is a failure of basic duty of care. The continued neglect of this playground is now bordering on gross negligence. You are knowingly allowing unsafe, hazardous equipment to remain in place in a public area frequented by young children.
To reiterate: my son was injured on this equipment. That should have been a wake-up call. Instead, over twelve months later, the same dangerous conditions remain, and no progress has been made.
I am demanding an immediate and formal response outlining: 1. Why no action has been taken since my initial complaint. 2. When a full safety inspection will be carried out (with a specific date). 3. When repairs or replacements will be completed.
Should I receive no satisfactory response or see no evidence of action within 14 days, I will be forced to escalate this matter further — including raising the issue with local councillors, the media, and relevant safety authorities. I will also begin gathering support from other parents and residents to press for accountability.
The safety of our children should never be optional, and your continued inaction is not only negligent — it is dangerous.
I expect a prompt and decisive response.

A job has been raised with our contractors and appropriate work will be undertaken as soon as practicable.

I have just been in the park today and some contractors arrived and started deconstructing the climbing frame, to the sound of all the children in the park crying.
The contractors said they didn't know when a new one was being built. Please could you tell us the plan for installing new equipment here
P.s. please don't remove that log, it's a great place to sit and nice for the kids to explore!
