Fungus on tree and tree felling notice

Reported via mobile in the Tree in poor health category anonymously at 09:51, Thu 6 November 2025

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8383372.

Hi. This is a follow on report from 8097540 which has been closed. This report was because there is significant fungus growth at the base of the cherry tree outside number 10. I understand this could mean the tree becomes unstable and branches could fall. My report has been closed with no action despite very visible fungus growth which is getting worse. I have just noticed a notice on another tree in the road (near number 2 ) regarding felling the tree due to fungus growth. There is no visible fungus growth on this tree and I’m wondering if there’s been a mistake. Ie that it should be the tree by number 10 to be felled. I don’t want the tree outside number 10 to be felled but equally if it is dangerous, understand that this would be required.

  • Hi. Apologies I can see the fungus on the tree due for felling so ignore my request here. Would be interested to know why the fungus on the tree outside number 10 isn’t a worry (which is great if that is the case)? Thanks.
