Where do you walk when the entire pavement is flooded?

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8397578.
The end of Victoria Square leading through to the arch into Clifton Village is flooded again. There is nowhere for the wall to go so it pulls. This means the entire width of the path is flooded and there’s nowhere to get round it other than to walk through it. This hazard for not only ordinary pedestrians but also anyone who can’t go round. The recent players have made it worse because there is no run-off.

This needs to be addressed properly. It’s a chronic issue. Some repairs were made to the tarmac, but the road is now higher than the path. This is why it floods. There’s no drainage. It’s not helped by the path through Victoria Square also having completely blocked gullies. But this is a separate problem. Images taken 8 December 2025

Not fixed. Please DO NOT just close this. It’s a chronic problem that will not resolve itself. It floods because the road is higher than the path & there’s nowhere for the water to runoff or drain. The path through Victoria square has issues with completely collapsed drains & the gullies are not kept clear. So this requires Parks & Roads Dpts to actually communicate and plan a fix. This is a major pedestrian route for residents & tourists. It’s not only a hazard but an embarrassment. Clifton is attractive & makes money for the City, but there appears to be little appetite to do the extras that this level of footfall creates.

There is nowhere for the water to go. The road has slowly risen when a new layer has been added without consideration for drainage. This would be okay if the gullies and drains worked & were cleared on a regular basis, scheduled rota. But they aren’t. Until this is sorted the path will flood & the City will make itself look bad. This is a major tourist & residential pedestrian route & needs to be better cared for. Planned works should be budgeted for & enacted.

Needs a drain, or proper runoff, which means major works. Maybe that’s the plan!

The path is below the level of the road. Both sides have recently been re tarmaced. There is nowhere for the water to go. Thi is exacerbated if the gullies that run through Victoria square are in anyway full. As the drains that run either side are also chronically in need of renovating.
