Footpath blocked
Reported via iOS in the Obstruction blocking access category anonymously at 20:33, Tue 11 November 2025
Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8406297.
This morning I received an email from you saying that this issue is now closed why? This issue is still ongoing as I reported to yourselves on the 29 October, after another email saying that if this issue is not resolved get in touch, in which I did and still no ACTION taken. A council is responsible for maintaining public footpaths to ensure they are safe and free from obstruction. This includes keeping the path surface in a fit state, removing obstructions, and ensuring the path is clearly signed. The council also has a duty to ensure that landowners do not obstruct rights of way and takes action if necessary. Council responsibilities Maintaining the surface: Keeping the surface of public rights of way in a fit state for public use. Removing obstructions: Ensuring that obstructions are removed, either by the council or by the person responsible for them. Controlling overhanging vegetation: Taking action to have overhanging branches and vegetation on the path lopped or cut back. Protecting rights: Protecting the public's rights to use the paths and ensuring that landowners carry out their duties. This has now been on going since early Summer if this issue is not resolved in the next 28 days I will escalate this further to my MP to take action.

Hedges running on side of Property 21/22 MOLESWORTH DRIVE. The hedges have totally overgrown the entire width of the pavement for 15ft. Causing pedestrians to navigate a track around the edge. Now that the weather has turned the grassed area is water logged, and the track has become a mud lethal mud trail. Whilst walking my dog I slipped and fell over causing injury to my knee. Anyone older/frail/not so sure footed/mothers with prams would be able to navigate this safely. It’s no longer a nuisance, it is a dangerous hazard. Pedestrians are at risk of serious injury.

No action so far as cutting back the overgrowth. This has been going on since April 2025 and nothing being done. There is now a muddy footpath where people walk and is extremely dangerous. I will be contacting my local MP to chase up with the BCC to take action
