Flooding and play park equipment deterioration

Reported via mobile in the Other issue category by Sue Mullins at 17:38, Friday 16 January 2026

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8704627.

There is flooding under the tyre swing. The path past the sand area is dangerous as the slope is far too steep, goes down and then back up leaving an area that collects water which then also becomes very slippery in icy weather. There is extensive graffiti all over the equipment and the rope ladder up to the slide is very worn.

  • Thank you for your complaint. The rope ladder is inspected regularly by a Play Inspector and is safe to play on. We will continue to monitor and it will be replaced at the end of it's life. The surface under the tyre swing does pool with water as it does with many swings in parks, however, do to the volume of rain we have experienced recently, this will be worse that usual. There is nothing we can do regarding the path, this is the design of the path and the way the land lies. Our Play Inspector has confirmed that graffiti is an ongoing problem in Kings Head Lane Park and when time permits and it is dry he sprays over it, however, this then allows for a blank canvas for it to be tagged again. When the weather is dry he will spray over it. It cannot be removed with graffiti remover as it has soaked in to the surface of the equipment.
