Request for Expansion of Car Park Spaces Due to Safety Concerns

Reported via desktop in the Depression in road category anonymously at 16:44, Thursday 12 February 2026

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8905081.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to formally request that the Council review and consider expanding the number of parking spaces available at the marked section of Coleshill Drive Residential Area.

The current capacity is no longer sufficient for the volume of vehicles using the area. As a result, drivers are frequently forced to park along access roads, on corners, and partially on pavements. This is creating increasingly unsafe conditions for both pedestrians and motorists.

In particular:

Emergency vehicle access could be compromised due to restricted road width caused by overflow parking.

At peak times, particularly during evenings and weekends, all marked bays are occupied, and an estimated additional 7-8 vehicles are left without designated spaces. This ongoing issue is not only inconvenient but poses a genuine safety concern for residents and visitors.

With continued residential growth and increased vehicle ownership, the demand clearly exceeds the current provision. Expanding the car park to maximise space efficiency, and exploring additional designated parking areas would significantly improve safety and accessibility for the community.

I kindly request that the Council conduct a site assessment to evaluate the risks and consider appropriate action.

Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.

Kind regards
