Fly tipping still persisting. Now worse due to no storage no bin collection.

Reported via mobile in the Flytipping category anonymously at 12:16, Tuesday 24 February 2026

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 8988188.

I'm well aware this is a prevelant issue, and clearly is hard to manage altogether. My mains concerns are entirely sanitary, as the closest house to the end of the road we will be the first to get rats and infestations.

I appreciate the environmental agency recently visited to remove the bins, unfortunately however the fly tipping has persisted and is now much worse as there is no storage.

While I know it builds up due to residents and business' leaving waste his is also due to the fact that bins are not often emptied at the correct time and have been left their for multiple days on end on every collection date in 2026 so far. Unfortunately while it could be for many reasons, this failure to collect waste at the correct time, encourages people to fly tip there as bins will often be out for days on end.

It seems more needs to be done, wether this is cameras & punishments for the fly tippers or working with the local community to crack down on it.

I'm more than happy to offer help, pulling bins to peoples houses, being vigilant and keeping eyes on things. This issue has existed for the 2 years we've lived at the property, and judging from the neighbours has been an ongoing issue for a many many years.

Updates

  • Thank you for taking the time to report fly- tipping to Bristol City Council. We will aim to remove the fly- tip within 3 days, but this depends on its size, scale, location, or whether the fly tip is hazardous.

Reducing levels of fly tipping is important so please share any evidence of who is doing it with the council.

If you witnessed who fly-tipped the waste or have evidence (CCTV/photo) please call us on 01179222100, or submit this at https://digital.bristol.gov.uk/ streets-travel/ tell-us-about-a-fly-tipping-incident-you-saw #YourCity.YourCall

  • Having walked down Bishop Lane, there is a total of 6 black bins on the whole road which contains 10+ properties. It is evident therefore that residents may have left them at the end of Bishop Lane, and now that they've been taken away they've just tipped their rubbish.

A large black bin re-delivery, with house names on each black bin will definitely help. I'd bring them in and out myself if it curved the rodent problem and general mess it makes. In any case hopefully this provides some more context as to the issue.
