The noise is so loud, it is a huge disturbance, especially at night where it is too loud for uninterrupted sleep. The hole is getting bigger and will be very dangerous for cyclists as well.

This hole is getting larger and will soon be dangerous to cars, but is already a hazard to cyclists.
In addition the noise from this hole is incredibly loud. It can be heard all day and night and maes it difficult to sleep even with windows closed.

If BCC is not responsible, in the interests of transparency, please let us know who is responsible. Then we can monitor the situation and ensure it is resolved asap. The noise is deafening and a hazard. I look forward to your respectfully quick response.

As per Abi’s reply please can you provide contact details on who you have referred this to, so that residents can monitor. This is both a health hazard as well as dangerous to cyclist using the road every day. Many thanks

Still not resolved. Very dangerous to cyclists and motorists alike. The noise is making it impossible to sleep and is distracting me from work all day. Please provide information on who is responsible for this is it’s not BCC

The man hole has now been filled in with tarmac. It looks like this was completed by Wessex Water today following a survey late last night. Maybe not a long term fix but it is certainly much quieter and not such a hazard!

This “fix” is a very quick fix which is clearly temporary as there are already visible signs of wear and tear after the tarmac was put down just 12 days ago. The noise is not as loud as it was but you can see further deterioration on a daily basis and the noise is already increasing. I still need to have my window closed at night. Please ask Wessex Water to return asap to do a proper job and fix this nuisance. Thank you.
