Massive break up of the road in both directions.

Reported in the Carriageway Defect category anonymously at 17:17, Mon 31 October 2016

Sent to Bristol City Council 13 minutes later

The road is completely broken up. The road has broken into many large slabs that rock as traffic drives over them, and there is now an area that has sunk sever inches below the normal road surface. This area is all around a manhole cover which is for the sewage pipes. This can all be seen from the photos. The breakage is located in the road outside 190 st Peter's Rise

  • They did patch the problem a week or so ago, but that patch has already failed. It has sunken as before. This road needs to be dug up and relaid, NOT just patched, as I mentioned before, whole sections of the road rock when vehicles drive over them. This implies that there is a hollow under the road surface. I think this should be investigated ASAP before any further potential problems occur, like the road collapsing.

  • They have patched the pothole, but not fixed the fact that the road rocks as cars and buses driver over it.

  • It seems like it is getting worse, the rocking of the bits of road definitely move more now than they did. To me this should be fixed urgently, as who knows what is under there, it could be a massive hole, which could cause massive damage to vehicles or maybe even the houses around there. I would suggest that the council would be liable to pay for any damages as this issues was raised 13weeks ago and has not been sorted out. I would suggest this could be considered gross negligence.

  • Its ridiculous that after 4 months you cannot fix this problem. You have patched this twice, but both have failed massively. There is now a big chunk that has again sunk and is breaking up. Double decker buses use this road all day every day, and the road is rock every time any vehicle goes over it. It is only a matter of time before a vehicle falls through this, and you, the council will be liable to any and all damage, as you are blatantly ignoring the situation. Everytime i post on here you claim to be investigating the situation, and doing a customer follow up, but the situation never changes. Perhaps you could respond on here and announce how you are going to fix this problem.

  • So fixing a major bus route is not a concern? I would also suggest that it will cost a lot more to fix and vehicles that get damaged when the road breaks up even more. Which financial year do you expect to get the budget to fix this road?

  • The whole width of this road (outside 163 St Peters Rise) has caused problems now for in excess of 12 months. It has been "marked" with spray paint and patched/repaired numerous timeS but is now as bad as it has ever been! This is a main bus route, as well as a major thoroughfare for local residents, and the area is "an accident waiting to happen". It needs repairing NOW!

  • Are you joking? The road physically rocks as vehicles drive over this section of road. I suggest you go these yourself and see as cars and double decker buses driver over this section of road, see how badly it deforms every time. You are have been seriously failing your responsibilities for a year now. I suggest you get it fixed before an accident happens, and the council get sued for not maintaining the roads to a reasonable condition.
