Request to Reopen Case [9642210 ] – Ongoing Highway Obstruction (Wheelie Bins)
I am writing to formally request the reopening of my previous report regarding wheelie bins persistently blocking the public parking space on [Insert Street Name]. I understand an officer recently visited the site and closed the case because the bins were not present at that specific moment. However, the bins were only off the road because the resident happened to be home at the time. This is a daily, ongoing issue where the resident uses their bins to illegally reserve a space on the highway. As you can see from the photos, they are blocking the road—it is certainly not an obstruction I would have placed there myself just to take photographs.
Furthermore, several local residents find this behaviour intimidating, as it creates an environment where people feel uncomfortable using a public parking space on their own street. Closing the case after a single, unannounced spot-check—despite clear photographic evidence showing a pattern of behaviour—is an ineffective way to address an ongoing issue that is impacting the wider community.
I kindly ask that you reopen this report and review the photographic evidence attached to the original ticket. I would appreciate it if the council could either conduct an inspection during typical problem hours (7pm to 7am) or issue a formal advisory notice to the resident regarding the obstruction of public parking spaces and anti-social behaviour.
Kind regards
