Footpath between Brookgate and Ashton Drive Impassable

Reported in the General Highways Enquiry category anonymously at 11:29, Fri 24 February 2017

Sent to Bristol City Council less than a minute later

The public footpath between Brookgate and Ashton Drive is a mudbath (we call it The Somme), which my colleagues and I have to negotiate twice a day to get to work. Our boots are ruined and I recently slipped and hurt my ankle quite badly. It is exacerbated by cyclists riding through it but it needs chippings put down URGENTLY, please. This has been like this since we moved here two years ago. Every time it rains it's like Glastonbury. Also at the Ashton Drive end of the footpath someone has place a mattress, fencing and general rubbish in the pathway which is both dangerous and an eyesore

Updates

  • Enquiry raised.

  • Under investigation.

  • We have heard nothing since an update on 27 February stating "Under Investigation". How long do these things typically take to respond to? I have seen no-one visiting site to view the footpath (and I look every day!) AT the moment it is dry, but as soon as the rains start in the Autumn (or even the summer), it will become impassable again. Please advise soonest. LGA

  • I reported this in February this year. Nothing has been done, but there is a symbol at the top of the page marked "FIXED". No way has this been fixed - indeed it is worse now than ever as two trees which used to give some shade have been felled and the mud is worse. I HAVE FALLEN OVER AND INJURED MY BACK WHILST SLIPPING IN THIS MUD. Please can someone reply to me in person as to when the council will rectify this footpath. Lesley Andrews
